Your 2019 guide to Fête de la Musique

After 25 years, Fête de la Musique remains as the largest local music festival in the country. Playing in Metro Manila and six other cities this year, it represents what every festival should strive for: Inclusivity in the celebration of various genres across borders.

This Saturday, June 22, Fête’s main stage can be found on Greenbelt 3 Park, where sought-after indie musicians like The Ransom Collective, Autotelic, She’s Only Sixteen, and Urbandub are headliners. A handful collaborative acts will also witness CRWN and August Wahh, Quest and the Hernandez Brothers, and Project Yazz and Skarlet Brown share the stage.

Over 50 pocket stages can be found across Makati City, hosting its own parties and blasting music of diverse genres. Each stage introduces the best of what the local music scene can offer: seasoned musicians and a whole lot of up-and-coming artists for music lovers to discover.

One of the most popular pocket stages of Fête is admittedly the Bedroom Beats Stage, which you can spot at the Yoi Sake Bar. There will be two separate lineups, called the Alpha and Omega, where the likes of CRWN, BP Valenzuela, Lustbass, ARIES, and shape/shift will take command of the music. The lines at the entrance can get incredibly long, so make sure you spare a few hours to get to the venue before the music starts playing.

We’re also looking forward to catch the live sessions at the The Ruins, where Unique, Callalily, Johnoy Danao, Miles Experience, and Bita & the Botflies and 13 other artists will perform on the OC Records Stage.

To get more of the chill vibes, head to The Apartment and enjoy the lofi and R&B tunes of CRWN, Curtismith, Earl of Manila, and pillowtalk at the Open Format Stage. The Post-Rock/Math Rock stage is a guaranteed full house with fans of tide/edit, Fools and Foes, Run Dorothy, Sound Architects and Capacities flocking to the Acceler8 Co-Working show.

From Jazz, Reggae, Salsa, Acoustic, to House Party, there’s a genre for everyone. One of the unique Fête experiences is hopping from one stage to another, trying to watch all the artists on your list, and just being carried by the energy of the music on the streets. We the streets can get a bit confusing, so make sure you download the Fête de la Musique app to guide you to your next pocket stage. Not only that, the complete lineup of each stage is available on the app, too! Now you can plan your Fête experience better.
