Growing up, we all have a dream of experiencing the perfect fairytale. Valerie and Wayne were no different. What’s better than a dream? Real-life. What started was a genuine and natural friendship eventually blossomed into a beautiful, God-centered love story. “There is so much more in a love story,” Val reveals.
And so it began.
Back in 2018, Wayne and Valerie met when Wayne joined the real estate company she was working in. There was an instant connection. In the coming weeks after meeting, Wayne felt a crush on Valerie brewing. On the other hand, Val shares instantly feeling comfortable with Wayne. “Our personalities match,” Wayne says. “The moment I saw her she was already my crush. She was my type in terms of physical appearance. And as I got to know her it wasn’t hard to fall in love.”
Wayne made an effort to get closer to Valerie, offering her rides to work asking her out to lunch. Fast forward to that night when Wayne invited Val to watch Lion King The Musical, Val realized she was starting to like Wayne: “I knew he was the one because I feel at peace and I feel secure with him, I couldn’t explain but it’s the first time I felt this with someone. We also really fought hard for our relationship,” Valerie imparts.
Choose to love
While they describe their chemistry as effortless, the pair admits their relationship has its ups and downs, but ultimately, love prevails. “Through the years we’ve been through a lot of ups & downs. At my lowest she didn’t leave me; she saw my flaws and accepted me for who I was,” Wayne shares. “It takes a lot of patience. It’s not easy and a lot of adjustments & acceptance need to be made to make any relationship work.”
“We are two lovers with effortless chemistry, strong bond and foundation, faced everything together with the help of God. We are nothing without the Lord,” says Valerie. ““In a relationship you have to consider him as a whole person, every single thing about them, that includes family, culture, dynamics, all his not-so-nice characteristics too, etc, the same as you.
“Always choose love at the end of the day and also rely on the Lord to guide you through your relationship. Because He provides strength, grace, patience and God will always make a way, if it is His will. He knows best!”
The Start of Forever
Wayne flew and proposed to Valerie in Canada, a meticulously planned event that took six months to prepare. Wayne shared in his engagement vlog about feeling nervous before proposing. “If she says yes, then I’ll be the happiest guy in the world.” he exclaims.
“I was impressed how he proposed, the proposal was a testament that he knows me too well. He planned everything properly, very mindful and anticipated what I could possibly think of. He was very careful and intentional with everything,” Valerie imparts.
With Valerie’s best friend looped in, Wayne was able to plan, experience, and document a milestone. It’s a site you see in movies. Surrounded by colorful flowers and lush greens, in the middle of a quaint stone bridge, two of Wayne’s dreams came true in Canada, travelling together with Valerie, and getting the sweetest yes from her. He first surprised her from the back in the middle of a planned “photo session”, first giving flowers and then asking the big question.
Joined by family and friends, their recent blue and white wedding in Okada Manila is a reflection of the simplicity, strength, and beauty of their relationship.
“You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” Wayne imparted on their big day.
Surrounded by a plethora of elegant, pretty white flowers, they had a garden wedding, followed by a magical reception decorated like the beautiful night sky.
“Who would have thought I’d be standing at this altar with a gentle giant, who I ignored on his first day at work six years ago?” Valerie narrated in her wedding speech.
As an addition to their special day, Lion King’s Can You Feel the Love Tonight was playing as Valerie walked down the aisle.
What a perfect start to a new beginning together.
