Companies started rolling out mandatory remote work or work-from-home policies amid the spread of COVID-19 to protect employees and help flatten the curve. And since most of us have workloads that cannot be put on hold, we found ourselves getting our tasks done at the comfort of our home. But while studies have suggested that working from home can actually make people more productive, there is still something about our rooms that cannot lend us some ‘ergonomic boost.’
Now that you’re here, let’s try to make things work with your WFH arrangement.
Treat it like a real job.
Working from home shouldn’t feel any less than going to the office. Wake up to the sound of your alarm clock, shower, and get dressed to greet the busy day ahead. Working while tucked in your bed is a big NO-NO if you want to amp productivity. You’ll only end up not wanting to leave your bed.
Look for your corner.
Set up a work space where you can be most productive at. It can be in your room or a corner in your living room, as long as there is little to no distraction and can help you focus on your task.
Be clear about your working hours.
It is important to keep track of your working hours specially when you work from home. You must not slack during operating hours, and do not overdo your job. Allow yourself to have planned breaks to get up, breathe, or grab a healthy snack. Remember that there is time for work and time to deal with domestic duties. So, you should draw a clear line between them.
Plan your workflow.
Consider planning your work day before you dive into it. This overview can help you assess what you have on your plate and can tell you which project to deal with first.
It seems like we will be having this arrangement for a little longer. So, we need all the tips and tricks we can get to keep our production pipeline in good working order. How are you keeping your productivity high while working from home? Let us know so we can get more things done!
