THE BLACK TIE BLACK EYE AFFAIR: KNOCKING POVERTY AWAY

The Philippines’ Premiere White Collar Amateur Boxing Event rises from a 3-year hiatus.

Slated for the night of April 29, 2023 at the Shangri-La Fort in Manila, The Black Tie Black Eye Affair is the first, premiere white-collar boxing charity event in the Philippines. The tournament is unique for having white-collar professionals duke it out to see who can score a knockout in the fight against poverty— with proceeds going to the children of the Virlanie Foundation.

First held last August in 2019 and fresh from being sidelined during the pandemic, the tournament sees twenty would-be pugilists train for 12 weeks and to give the audience a night to remember.

As the brainchild of Jamie Mordaunt and Gianpietro Iseppi, the one-of-a-kind gala first raised over a million pesos during its debut. The pair plan to challenge that title with this second match.

Taking the Inside Step for Charity

The Black Tie Black Eye Affair will raise money throughout the buildup as well as the event itself for Virlanie Foundation, Inc., a private, non-profit organisation which reaches out to street children in the Philippines. Virlanie cares for children in need of special protection—the abandoned, abused, exploited, neglected, and orphaned who are among the poorest of the poor.

In 2019, its founder Dominique Lemay, expressed his sincere gratitude to the people behind the successful event. “You’re not just here for boxing, for food, but to give charity and give back the smiles for the children. Thank you very much.” He espoused.

A Night of Culmination for Boxing and Charity

With the pride and glory of winning merged alongside the humility and honor of giving back to society— a win, lose, or draw all count as victories for a good cause. The event promises to be a union of passionate fighters, an entertained audience, and generous sponsors committed to triumph over poverty.

Real stories. Real people.

We believe that life isn’t about a binary of ones and zeros – but about the sum of our hopes and dreams, our struggles and heartaches, our tragedies and triumphs.

The things that unite us are far stronger than the things that divide us.

And those stories are why we are alike.
