Now that the ‘new normal’ has face masks spelled on it, local creative designers have come to the fore to craft stylish more-of-a-necessity-than-a-trend face masks that go with our leave-the-house looks and protect us. These lauded designers and brands are leading the charge to fabricate the stamp that typifies 2020.
1. Michael Leyva
Michael Leyva did not stop at creating stylish face masks, he has also launched a bold new line of fashionable protective wear that is ‘elegant, flowing, and decidedly democratic’. Talk about going above and beyond to protect a wearer’s health in style.

2. Mak Tumang
Hold on to your crowns, queens! Mak Tumang, the designer behind Ms. Universe 2018 Catriona Gray’s showstopping lava gown, has just released face masks inspired by that iconic dress. The Lava Flame, Lava Fire, Lava Ash, and Charcoal Black masks are washable, breathable, water repellent, have 3-ply material (Neocrepe cover, Non-woven filter, cotton lining), and have comfortable ear straps.

3. Vania Romoff
These ruched silk masks have definitely speak for the designer’s predominantly feminine and classic, yet forward looking and sophisticated design style. These reusable cloth masks are non-medical grade face coverings that are made with standard folds to expand easily for more coverage. Vania Romoff added a slit that allows wearers to insert a surgical mask in between for additional protection.

4. The Armor Project by Mark Bumgarner
A collection of unisex masks was launched by Mark Bumgarner to help provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to frontliners in this time of crises. Not to mention that these masks are made of repurposed fabric, making them more sustainable.

5. Apartment 8
Known for creating classic staples and fashionable trends that complement the modern woman’s dynamic lifestyle, Apartment 8 joins the fight against the pandemic through their Care Masks for Adults, Tokyo Caremask, and Tender Care Masks for the little ones. These masks are made in viscose soft fabric—one of the most breathable materials used for clothing. Aside from these eye candy masks, the brand also has Essentials collection—errand capote, errand bucket hat, sterilizing UV bag, errand specs, errand visor, and errand suit—perfect for when you need to run errands.

6. Zoo Label
Zoo Label has Must Mask collection that will give you a hard time choosing what to purchase. They have white masks, Breathe Trio Mask Set (features embroidered linen masks with single line face drawing), Linen Masks, Silk Masks, and Black Masks.

7. Wear Anika
A ‘wrap for keeps’ that you can use as a face mask that slips over your face and onto your hair to tie it. But once it’s safer to go mask-free, you can still use it a bag accent, hair accessory, or luggage bow!
