Due to insistent, popular demand, 9 Works Theatrical and Globe Live are extending the second run of Eto Na! Musikal nAPO! until Apr. 7. Since it debuted in August 2018, word spread like wildfire among millennials, and titos and titas of Manila alike. The clamor for an extension was astounding, to say the least. In theater speak, the show must go on, indeed!
Critics have weighed in on the show’s second run, and collectively agree on the production’s consistent, magical touch. It’s no wonder that the musical captured the hearts of theater goers and families alike with its imaginative reinventions of timeless tunes. Songs such as the love-struck ballad of “Panalangin,” the groovy “Blue Jeans,” and the wise advice of “Batang-Bata Ka Pa” were given a fresh twist by the talented cast. These are all songs that became theme songs at one point or another in nearly every Filipino’s life, cementing APO Hiking Society’s legacy in Filipino pop culture and history.
Set in a university in the 70s, Eto Na! Musikal nAPO! tells the coming-of-age of a ragtag of college friends as they gear up to win a songwriting competition. Through it all, they share triumphs, romantic bliss, and heartbreak. All of this happens under the iron first of Martial Law. What keeps them together is their sheer love for music, and a friendship that stands the test of time and turmoil.
Don’t miss this chance to see the cast once again. Playing the boisterous band of brothers are Mark Bautista, Floyd Tena, Jobim Javier, Alfritz Blanche, Jon Philippe Go, Jef Flores, Jon Abella, and Vyen Villanueva. Joining them are Rita Daniela, Mica Javier, Marika Sasaki, Roxanne Barcelo, Sab Jose, Raul Montesa, and Neomi Gonzales. Rounding out the cast are Vien King, Luis Marcelo, Gian Gloria, Shalee Vicencio, Peachy Atilano-Guevara, Jourdan Bartolome, Anton Posadas, and Derrick Gozos.
