alike.com.ph—It was complete nostalgia when Filipinos first heard that 90’s love team and ex-lovers, Angelica Panganiban and Carlo Aquino would be starring in a film together. The news also gave their fans high hopes they would rekindle their romance, though the pair cleared it out that they are just good friends and their relationship will remain as is.
On the other hand, their latest film, Exes Baggage (directed by Dan Villegas), shows the pair’s timeless chemistry as they portray the characters of Nix and Pia.
With Dwein Bautista’s brilliant screenplay, the script was beautifully conveyed together with Angelica and Carlo’s natural acting that made the film not too melodramatic.
The film explored the ups and downs of building and sustaining a healthy relationship as embodied by Nix and Pia. The film was realistic in the sense it gave its audience heart warming lessons that can be applied in real life situations.

It taught us that love is truly a risk, and it demands pain. To be hurt and to love again is what makes love worthwhile. We love not because, we love despite.
It also taught us that we should allow time to heal our wounds before we can fully commit and that closure is necessary before we can start all over again. The film tells us that it would be unfair to commit to something or someone else without giving your one hundred percent because we continue to linger in the past.
Lastly, it showed us that second chances are rare. We must appreciate what’s in front of us and never take them for granted. In the end, no matter how painful our past is or scary the future may be, we must always live in the moment and appreciate the people around us. We’ll never know how long the moment will last and how long these people may stay as time is always passing.
Exes Baggage is a film that genuinely captures the highs and lows of a relationship, reconciling our pasts, and the beauty of second chances.
Exes Baggage is still showing in cinemas nationwide.
