After almost six years under the current administration, it’s finally time as Filipinos to determine our future. National elections serve as our democratic institution to elect leaders and everyone has a right, nay, duty to participate! Luckily, exercising your right as a citizen is easier (and safer!) than ever with today’s technology.
Our national hero himself, Jose Rizal, guides you on your heroic journey as the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) partners with MullenLowe Treyna, an advertising agency, to bring you the interactive #MagpaRehistroKa website.
Here a few steps to follow:
Know the address of the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) in your city.
Make sure to familiarize yourself with the location and office hours of the OEO. It is also recommended that you set an appointment beforehand to ensure your time slot. If you’re unsure about where your OEO is, you can type in your location in #MagpaRehistroKa for assistance.
After finding your OEO, make sure to prepare your requirements and safety precautions.
The list of required forms can be found in the official website of the COMELEC. These can be downloaded on your computer then filled out before your appointment either in print or digitally. Make sure that you do not sign or affix your thumbprint yet, as this is needed to be done in the presence of the Election Officer. There is also the option to register completely online via iRehistro.
You will need to bring a valid ID and a photocopy of it as well. The list of valid IDs accepted can be found in #MagpaRehistroKa. Lastly, don’t forget to bring your face mask, face shield, and rubbing alcohol or other sanitizers.
The last thing to do is to head to your OEO!
There, you will be guided on what to do next. It’s best to leave a free schedule for that day since the process can take up to a few hours depending on the number of people also registering.
See? That’s all there is to it! No need to martyr yourself for the national cause. Just complete these steps and you will be officially registered as a voter. Make sure that you meet the deadline of September 30, 2021 so that you can participate in the 2022 elections.
