Dylan Wang is eyeing more unique roles

July 22, 2019 – Vinz Lamorena

Probably one of the easiest ways to become a Bench global endorser is to take on the iconic role of being the F4’s leader. From Jerry Yan, to Lee Min Ho, and, now, Dylan Wang, the lifestyle brand boasts of a roster of local celebrities to international superstars as their style ambassadors.

At the press conference prior his Araneta fanmeet, we saw Dylan sporting a track jacket and he paired it with a simple logo tee. While he revealed that he doesn’t exactly have a style that he adheres to, his cardinal rule to dressing up is to wear what makes you comfortable and happy. The actor also shared he’s inclined to choose the loose fit, like those seen in streetwear and hip-hop fashion.

Playing the character of Dao Ming Si in the hit remake of “Meteor Garden” was the 20-year-old actor’s claim to fame. Dylan revealed he shared his character’s playful and child-like personality which made it easier to act as the well-loved pineapple head.

“I really tried my best in interpreting that role. The character of Dao Ming Si is essentially the same to the one Jerry Yan played, but I tried not to copy so much of what he has done for the role and added my own style to it instead,” the actor shared.

Like most celebrities of this generation, Dylan is also a multihyphenate: He acts, models, and sings! But among all his talents, he says he wants to focus on becoming the best actor he can be. Dylan jumps from one acting genre to another, curating diverse parts to play on his portfolio.

“Acting really is my line of work and I think my passion lies here. I also like that I get to portray different kinds of people. Every day is a new day when you’re an actor. There’s always something new everyday and I get to meet different kinds of people each time I work,” Dylan said.

“I want to improve on acting as much as I can so I can give my best to all my future roles to make fans happy,” he said. Dylan revealed he doesn't have his eyes on a specific role. Instead, he’s focusing on discovering unique characters to play. He just finished filming the fantasy series “Ever Night” as its leading man. The sequel is set to be released next year.

He described protagonist Ning Que as someone who continues to evolve from the start to the finish. “I play a character that doesn’t go by the rules, who would do anything to protect his family. He is really something different from me personally, you just have to watch the show to get what I mean,” Dylan said.
