Are you game to do a Poblacion pub crawl the Irish way?

March 13, 2019 – Vinz Lamorena

The Irish say that whiskey is all about exploration. It can be an acquired taste, a matter of preference, and, every now and then, it entails a little bit of experimentation—and, by that, we mean cocktails.

The same can be said about having fun on a Saturday night: It’s all about exploration. And there’s really no better way to do so than by going on a pub crawl. You get to try different drinks, munch on all things deep-fried, and meet various kinds of people as you travel from one bar to the next.

Each bar has its own unique charm and vibe—all attracting different kinds of crowds and personalities—and there are loads of them in the hip downtown neighborhood of Poblacion. It’s a no brainer: Makati’s go-to place for great eats and party drinks is where you’ll be finding us this Saturday, Mar. 16, for Jameson’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

The feast day of Ireland’s patron saint has evolved to a celebration of all things Irish, and, of course, their parties don’t go well without Irish whiskey—it’s just a matter of culture, and it’s one that we can totally get on board with (when you taste their ginger and lime concoction, you’ll definitely agree).

Jameson Whiskey has tapped local bars The Ruins, The Apartment, Nokal, Z Hostel, and The Meeting Point to serve Filipinos one great party for the night. “St. Patrick’s Day is a revered tradition full of parties, parades and an overall great time with friends,” shared Fintan Cannon, Jameson’s Brand Ambassador.

“Jameson is Ireland’s most iconic whiskey and we felt that there’s no better way to share this whiskey than to bring St. Patrick’s Day to Manila,” he added.

Finta shared there are different kinds of whiskeys to suits one’s palate. This choice of drink is often light and approachable, a balance of spice and sweetness that’s not too intimidating. With a sip of Jameson’s classic blend, you’ll find a complexity of flavors, where there are layers of spiciness and fragrant vanilla.

For St. Patrick’s Day, there’s going to be more drinks than just whiskey on the rocks, of course. If it’s on the menu, we recommend the GreenHorn, a tropical whiskey mix. The cocktail’s sourness hits all the right spots, a refreshing tartiness that will liven up your night. The Jameson, Ginger & Lime is just as good. It’s a drink you can have all evening—it’s light, bubbly, and quite addicting. The splash of ginger ale envelopes the boldness of the whiskey and transforms it into a sweet and sharp drink you won’t stop raving about.

They say wearing green on this St. Patrick’s Day brings you good things. But with a glass of GreenHorn in hand, well, you might just get lucky all the same.

The Jameson Poblacion pub crawl starts at The Ruins at 7:30 in the evening. There will also be local artists performing all throughout the night.
