This season, adidas Originals together with the lifestyle boutique Commonwealth launched their collaborative edition of the ZX 500 RM silhouette, last night at the Power Plant Mall in Makati. The latest pair took inspiration from the coastal traditions that bond Commonwealth’s two most recently-opened locations in Los Angeles and the Philippines.
Since it first opened in 2004, lifestyle boutique Commonwealth has established itself as a leading specialty boutique which eventually is being recognized as an international leading name in streetwear, culture, and style. Beyond its retail presence, Commonwealth is also on top of creating and fulfilling an established street, fashion, and sportswear brand that aims to influence and inspire people.
Commonwealth first opened in the Philippines back in 2015 and has expanded into two further locations in the country. As they become a true cultural hub in the metro, they pay homage to that through this latest collaboration.
The ZX 500 RM Commonwealth is inspired by the coastal living of Virginia Beach, Los Angeles, and of course – the sunny Philippines. It also explores the elements of translucency and fluidity. The shoe is constructed from a synthetic suede with translucent monofilament mesh underlays and TPU welded overlays for structure, with embroidered 3-stripe marks and heel details in soft, aquatic colors.
The shoe is then place atop a BOOST™ midsole for optimum cushioning and is finished off with a durable rubber outsole. While light touches such as a co-branded insole, Consortium tongue label and Commonwealth woven label on the lateral ankles – completes the whole picture.
Commonwealth operates from six different locations between two countries across the globe from each other and is underpinned by the spirit of collaboration and cultural connection that informs adidas Consortium.
With this latest collaboration, both Commonwealth and Consortium place the spirit of collaboration front and center against the backdrop of the ZX 500 RM silhouette, a modern interpretation of one of the 3-stripes’ most beloved models.
